Quarter Life Crisis Without A Map

Quarter-life Crisis is:

A crisis involving anxiety over the direction & quality of  life, which is most commonly experienced in a period ranging from a person in their mid-20s to early 30s (although it can begin as early as 20)”

But what does it really mean? Why weren’t generations before us experiencing this? If we are having a quarter-life crisis, how can we make the best of it?

So to begin with, it isn’t a problem that has just been made up. There is research that indicates that 25 to 33-year-olds have experienced a quarter-life crisis. So, evidently, losing a sense of direction and questioning the next steps is an unsettling yet incredibly common experience for most millennials, and we are all susceptible to a quarter-life wobble that could be triggered by several reasons.

How to know you’re having a quarter-life crisis?

Below is a link to the signs of a quarter-life crisis. There are, of course, several other signs, but I thought these four would suffice.

Also, you can experience a quarter-life crisis in either your career, finances, or relationship life. Today, allow me to only talk about career life.

So, how do you stop struggling?

 1.  Ask God what your purpose in life is through prayer
  • Jeremiah 1:5 NLT "I knew you before I formed you in your mother's womb. Before you were born, I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.

The same way he formed Jeremiah, set him apart & called him with a purpose - He has done the same with you too, he’s created you with a purpose. So ask him about your purpose because he’s your creator.

2.  Draw a vision board

  • Proverbs 29:18 (a) kjv "where there is no vision, the people perish."
  • Habakkuk 2:2 (b) kjv "write the vision, make it plan upon tablets, that whoever reads it will run with it."

You’re most probably feeling like you're stuck in a rut because you don’t have clear set goals before you. A vision board should feature your future goals & it should also give you confidence & clarity if you don’t know what you want.

   3. Submit your dreams and desired Goals to God
  • Proverbs 19:21 NIV - “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is God’s will that prevails.
It's good to plan and have dreams, but leave room for God’s will - trust his plan for your life. The best & perfect place to be in life is in the will of God.

   4.  Set realistic goals
  • Know your strengths & weaknesses, gifts & talents. Ask yourself how you can go about reaching those goals. Also, what could possibly be keeping you from reaching those goals & how to improve. Lastly, don’t box God. He can do beyond your imagination.
I hope this encouraged you to know that if you’re going through a quarter-life crisis, you’re not alone. I hope you took something from it. Also, as you open up more to God in prayer, he may show you other things that I didn’t mention here. I wish you love & light. A sound mind (free of anxiety and panic)!

Until next time. Ciao
